Fanzine VIII.. anything special to note??

Thursday 6th November 2008

Apologies from the Fanzine Editor for the lack of Fanzine issues of late... there are no adequate excuses for this absence. It is just tardiness on the Fanzines part...

The Ed. team have managed to put down their cups of Earl Grey and custard creams. They worked side by side into the wee small hours to cobble together this fine edition of a Fanzine in honour of 'the phenomenon that is Daddy Papersurfer (now dot com)'..... because it is his burpday ... whoops sorry Birthday, damn typos!!

For those of you who have not seen a Fanzine before (where have you been?) back issues are available on line at no additional cost.

Issue 1 ~ an introduction to Daddy Papersurfer, plus a rare photograph of the power behind the 'peabrain'... LoTG

Issue 2 ~ DP's bid for Presidency of the USA

Issue 3 ~ DP's aides, The Oscar ceremony, DP fashion accesories

Issue 4 ~ DP Day, look alikes, DP memorabilia

Issue 5 ~ DP Fantasy or Fact? plus long lost family members

Issue 6 ~ Papersurfer genealogy, the Fanclub increases in size

Issue 7 ~ DP's life story

Home 12 ish

When I thought my week couldn't get better (mmmmm David Essex .. swoon) I received this charming e mail this afternoon which reads:

'Congratulations weblogger,

your internet weblog has undergone stringent review from our panel of internationally acclaimed internet weblog experts. After careful deliberation and several large brandies they have concluded that your blog not only exists but should warrant approval from our panel of internationally acclaimed internet weblog experts.'

How absolutely amazed was I? Last week I tentatively submitted my blog to be reviewed (I have never sent the ramblings of a teenager for such scrutiny before) to the World Blog Council.

I popped in to see what the reaction was over the weekend only to find that the 'shop was shut' for the weekend. Oh how I have perspired (or is that 'glowed' being a 'lady'?) over the past 72 hours or so awaiting the result of my application. I really thought I would have a big fat RED reject stamp pressed firmly onto my blog header.. what with the glittery balls, knitting patterns, bell bottoms and Donny (swoon)

But no how wrong could a gal be I got a big GREEN approval stamp yip yip yipeeeeee.

However, I do think that the panellists may have still been recovering from an excess of bratwurst and Jagermeister this Monday morning

No matter I have the certificate in my itty bitty hands without having to use the information that dear Frac found whilst fossicking whilst delivering her secreatrial duties from her sick bed (Frac thanks hun... I won't disclose any of it you sent me ... but my it made fabulous reading, it is truely amazing what you can do with a rolled up newspaper and that slide show.. oh my word... lol)

So to Colonel Reginald Fotherington-Blogworthy II CEO, MD, ARSE; Prof. Wardrobe Gruber Esq. (MA, D.Phil); Frau von Sauertraut (great hair but I think you would look great with the 'Hamill' look); Ms Ashley Tutt and last but by now means least T. Ern (are you doing Earl Grey in the afternoons?).... I thank you from the bottom of my..... bell bottoms

I would urge other bloggers to go and venture forth and submit your blogs to the WBC. You never know when you may need them.........

[I am still not sure that apostrophe should be there ... it is like the teen belonging to a 70 year old rather that the tale of a Seventies teen... but hey what do I know about grammer ?? maybe the WBC can advise?]

2nd November 1979

Friday 2
Go to Stafford
Left our house at 10.15
Got to Stafford at 12.40
Got chatted up on the way there by a fella from Sudan (my oh my do I remember that journey. This chap sat opposite me and started to ask me what is that river, what is that village etc as we passed on the train. He seemed harmless enough!... Then he said 'do you have black relations?', I said no I don't but I have friends who are black'... he said ' No I mean sexual relations'.... I didn't know if to laugh or scream.. lol. Before I could catch my breath and answer he continued ' I am looking for pretty English lady to be my wife and come and live in the Sudan with me'....... luckily we were just pulling into Stafford station and you have never seen anyone get off a train so fast ... gosh I could have been part of a harem)
Went to Hixon football club do = great
Dressed up as a school boy (I wonder if it was a fancy dress party lol)
Home at 3.00 am

Well in answer to yesterdays ' so who did I meet?'... Annie Mouse was correct on her final answer. And DP you are about to resign tee hee.......

OMG yes David Essex.. I just couldn't believe it. He is looking great for 61 years old.

His current musical 'All the Fun of the Fair' just finished at the Palace Theatre Manchester, it was his final performance so how lucky (or jammie as Annie Mouse put it) was I to be passing at the right time... ahhh swoon.
I last saw him in the flesh (so to speak) in 1979

Ah swoon......

Anyway life is so exciting just now .. last weekend I did a mini blog meet... please pop over to Fuel My Blog and read all about it

Had a bath
Stripped paper off bookcase in the lounge (hey I guess we were coming out of the 70s and a wallpapered bookcase was just not 'in'...... but was it ever 'in'???)
Sam rang again at 11.00 pm
Look forward to seeing him tomorrow

My dairy today 1st November 2008

Got up at 9.00

Surfed the net

Put washing in

Had a long bath, washed my hair
Got the 12.46 train into Manchester

Met up with a good friend

Went to Manchester Art Gallery

Saw a load of great art including a brilliant Holman-Hunt exhibition
(I was haunted by this painting which I hate with a passion)
Also saw a fabulous display of buttons
(I so love buttons, they even had a Donny button.. )
Went to get the 17.43 train home

Passed the Palace Theatre

Saw a crowd gathered at the 'stage door'

Was it ~Mary Poppins'?
No it was someone in my teen years who was second to Donny
A woman (a complete stranger) grabbed my arm (unfortunately it was my right one ... ouch and double ouch!)
'come on girl get over here' and she pushed me to the front
I stood 2 feet away from him

I thrust the programme I had picked up from the Art Gallery in his direction
He signed it and smiled
OMG!!

Bought a bottle of wine from Sainsbury's for the firework party I am going to.

Kissed my good friend farewell.
Caught my train
home (with a load of man united supporters... tsk!)
Went to firework party
(great hotpot!!)
now writing this.............

So who was my 2nd teen hero?

mmmm I will let you guess and will tell you tomorrow ...........
maybe!! ( I am still in awe!)
