16th February 1979

Friday 16
Cleaned the cookers at college today (Oh they were trying hard to make me into a domestic goddess!!)
Met Sam walking down the road at 8.00 on my way to babysitting

They are dead nice people

Got £2.00 (scarily that baby will be 30 now!! eeek!)

Got home at 12.30am

Really love Sam even if he don't like my hair! (see I knew it was a mistake getting a curly perm)

Well Spring is almost here & thoughts turn to sunny days and new beginnings... even bird watching!
The Judy Annual of 1979 even suggests making your own bird box for the garden

'Here's how to make a simple (SIMPLE??) nest-box'

(yes if you knew how to saw wood with out taking off your fingers as a teen.... no power tools that a girlie could lift in those days ...... needless to say it wasn't done & I stuck to what I knew, boys, make-up and disco dancing )

You are a domestic goddess!!!! ..... what with your grouting skills and all .........

Boys, make-up and disco dancing ... sounds like a very full cirriculum with unspoken benefits for the years ahead! Much more useful than making a birdhouse anyway ;-)

did you have to clean the ovens because you made a mess with the raspberry mousse biscuits?

DP ~ grouting and making pastry... very similar in the results. Awful to get out of your nails lol

tNb~ amazing how your views change as you get older, I would quite fancy a bird box in the garden now (& I have just the power tools to make one lol) ...... but it would just be like providing wild fresh food for the cats

NM~ I expect you are spot on there.... Teen's and cooking what a mess, I think cleaning up as you go along comes on much later in the learning process (have to bear that in mind after my teen has been experimenting!!) lol
