5th & 6th July 1979

Thursday 5
Work 10.00 - 6.30
Packed when I got home

Fi & Stan phoned

Boring evening

Sam rang at 11.00 ish

Friday 6
Got up at 9.00

Sunbathed
Met Bev & Stan on the train into Liverpool

Caught train to Stafford
Met Sam at 5.00pm
Went to Woolpack & Gayton Hotel
Left early cos of possible scraps
cos of funky Sam (mmmm I wonder what that meant... maybe he was trendy looking or something????)

What afternoon yesterday ..........70s met up with Olga's current chaperon Claire and I managed to get Bill Blunt out of hibernation too!
We all hooked up at the Albert Dock , Liverpool

I am apparently the first real life blogger that Claire has met ... and she said I was her favourite real life blogger.. mmmm as I am her first one I asked that she comes back to me after her adventures in the US in September to see if I am still a fav!! lol

It was incredibly busy at the docks as we hadn't realised that the clipper around the world yacht race was on.

And this huge liner was in, according to my mother it has 900 American tourists on board.

So what an environment to let Olga loose in?? A multi nation event!
My she was excited, particularly when she was reunited with Michelle 'Posse' leader

There was no stopping her when she saw the Beatles SuperLambBanana, she was all over it like a rash

In fact no one was safe

This poor chap was having a snooze on the bench and Olga entwined herself around him, he was quite alarmed upon wakening.... I am beginning to get a little worried about her morals since she had 'that' encounter with Gertrude and now Willy!!!!!

15th June 1979

Friday 15
18 months (the amount of time me & Sam had been going out)
Football club dance £1.25 a ticket
Got to Stafford at 4.30
Been with Fi in Liverpool since 12.30
Went to Football do = trouble from lads from Rugley
Sam & me = ok

Oh well the teen birthday weekend ha
s gone well. I went to bed at one and the girls gave up at 4 am..... consequently we are all pretty tired today but they had great fun.

Well it it is almost time for Olga to leave 70s. Managed to catch a few evening rays in the garden with her, watch some old movies and take a few country walks this weekend.

Was having a 70s surf and came across this.... the presenter waffles on but what a great collection of old 70s cars

Classic Leyland advert

and some different 'Cars' from 1978

8th June 1979

Friday 8
Went to college for 2 hours
Sam arrived at 7.30 pm
He wasn't particularly speaking to me (gosh what a grumpy knickers)
But we went to Follies (nightclub) & we really enjoyed ourselves
We got on famously
Home at 2.30 am

Well I do think that Olga is feeling at home here and I must say she has certainly brought some Californian weather with her. 'Phew what a scorcher' it has been this weekend.
There was a bit of late night partying last night so I decided we would have a quiet (ish) day and visit Pennington Flash.
It is renowned for bird watching (or twitching as it is known as over here) & I can see why it is famous for birds, there were loads of them. (I am not a twitcher btw just in case you were wondering)

We took refuge in a hide to cool off from the mid day sun and I managed to capture Olga 'twitching', you know I think she maybe a natural!!.......

& this is the view

7th June 1979

Thursday 7
Business Studies cancelled
Made lasagne al forno & beef bourguignon
Played tennis 8 -9 pm with Jim, Fi & Ken

Me & Ken won 6-0, 6-1
Sam phoned me at 11.00

He was a
wful, accusing me of all sorts = horrible boy! (obviously didn't like me playing tennis with some other bloke who I have no idea is now!!)

Well what a busy 7th June this is!!

I have Olga staying and she is having a great time. She slept well last night but the Posse were so excited I had to say 'shuuush' on more than one occasion in the wee small hours.
Today I took her to meet my family.... She was welcomed with open arms and my 2 brothers were in awe at her. My Teen and niece were slightly 'OMG' and my 77 year old Mum was totally bemused.
We went to the Edwardian Day that is an an
nual event in Ainsdale. I must say that the parade was a bit poor but the tea and cake on the Vicar's lawn was fabulous. It was here that one of my brothers (who are a lot older than 70s) decided that Olga should have a photo session. The look on his face I think he was in 'imagination of the content mode' !!!!

I was this church's Rose Queen when I was 11/12

Oh wow the church seemed to me today as an adult so small. I last set foot here some 30 years ago.
I met the mother of one of my attendants today. I recognised her instantly and her me after 35 years had passed. Sadly she told me that they had no children at church now!!
A note to self .. when you have international visitors always remember to charge your camera batteries... we went to the seaside and the camera died ..... but this where Olga went

The other thing to day (gosh it is late now & hope I don't miss it)
IT IS KEVIN's (ALL THAT IS FUEL MY BLOG) BIRTHDAY

so I reckon that in 1979 he was still in short trousers.. maybe 6/7 years of age ... OMG how old does that make 70's feel lol

So in honour of 'Sir' K

& a double bonus a cake delivered by DP himself :-0
