Friday 22
No college today
Got up at 10.00
Had a bath
Sam phoned at 1/2 12.
he said he would ring tonight but hasn't
He went to a presentation at the Woolpack
They won a darts trophy (I expect he was a bit worse for wear!!)
Watched 'Now For Something Completely Different'
From Monty Python (Now for something completely different). Did we have a thing about Hungarians in the 70s??? I know we have a fair few Poles about now as my supermarket has a Polish food section!
Today I have been surfing and caught up with Teenage Rock Opera. He is a male 70steen .. an ex-pat living in Kentucky, US.
So to cut a long story short he posted this clip from You Tube.. I had this saved for a future 70s post but now he has reminded me ... what a great sport Donny is :-)
(stop press ... Fanzine tomorrow )

(OMG what was this bloke thinking of? Me a PA? I don't think so! But I have to admit I do sort my senior managers out on more than one occasion.. yes they are all men and need direction/ ordering.. so maybe that careers teacher wasn't too far off the mark back then?)
Made Beef Stroganoff & butterscotch flan = lovely
Sam phoned at 11.30
He said he missed me v. much
OMG can you believe that You Tube has 'Beef Stroganoff' on there lol!!... it is important oh so important to cut your mushrooms into quarters.... ahem get a life lol

Tuesday 19
Sociology pm = ok (another exam I guess)
Sun bathed all morning (ahem what about studying??)
Played tennis tonight
Went to the Houghton (pub) with my brother and Stan.
Sam = playing footy in Stone (so he says!) (ooo so young yet so cynical lol)
He phoned me at 11.20
Well in the 70s this guy became almost a religion in our house on a Saturday. We would watch it every week... I loved it!
What was the preamble to the show?
Yes it was 'The Six Million Dollar Man' (mmmm? I wonder how much that is in today's money?........ $29,431,613.82 in 2007)
oo0 that boingy (you know what I mean .. but how do you spell it??) sound when he did anything 'bionic' lol

I tell you had I known these dolls were around then I would have so wanted one... a wide angled lens that gave you bionic vision .. oh wow!!! I reckon that it was probably as disappointing as Sindy's hair that grew back when you turned a dial in her back... then it didn't grow back when you cut it short... well nobody told me that!!!!
Then there was Lyndsey Wagner as the Bionic Woman..... oh I so wanted to be her! (she had that strange noise too!! Oh I wanted to be Alexandra Bastedos as Sharron Mcready too out of the Champions.. another religion! )

Is that Austin Powers in the second bit??
This did make me laugh off You Tube... ooo some 'Walrus of Love' too :-)

What was the preamble to the show?
"Steve Austin, astronaut, a man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him, we have the technology. We have the capability to make the worlds first Bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better. Stronger. Faster."

Monday 18
Business Studies pm = fair
Cookery am = quite difficult
(from those 2 lines it would seem I had exams ... what was my mother thinking of letting me go away for a weekend when I had exams?? ... note to self be more tolerant with teen, who I lambasted a few days ago about going out then discovering she had exams the next day!!!)
Me = very shattered today (I bet I was!!)
Bought a book 'The Deep' (it has to be the book of the film released in 1977)

Revised some Sociology
Wrote to 4 banks (I can only think it was for a job?) & Sam
Phoned him but he was down the pub (quelle surprise!!lol)
He phoned back at 11.00 ish
I have discussed with Olga her travelling plans and it looks like she is heading down South to warmer climes at the weekend. The weather in Manchester has turned so cold and rainy (hey that is Manchester's way!) it is not good for Olgas underwires.. they could rust!! As I am at home on Friday and can catch the Post Office open. Her next port of call is at Daddy P's.. god help her.. I hope her mammories are up for the challenge and her elastic remains taut! lol
I will say a fond farewell to my 'perfect house guest'.
The posse will be sad to see her go but they know she may revisit some day. Tomorrow I hope that I can have a leaving do for her .. watch this space !!

Well 70s has been rooting through her 70s annuals tonight and came across this, a photo pic of Stevie Wonder C1975

I love Stevie Wonder he has been with me through out my life it would seem.. he has had a song for every occasion that I have lived through...
In 1979 he released 'The Secret Life of Plants' album (which of course I own)
How cool & chilling was that??
I make no apology.....I am now going to self indulge
Ok I have had my Stevie hit now !! :-)

17th June 1979
Sunday 17
Back from Stafford
Got up at 10.30
Went to Post Office (I can't believe that post offices were actually open on a Sunday ... but they must have been?)
Sam's grand parents came to dinner (they lived in Manchester)
Me & Sam went for a long, long walk
We had a good talk
Left at 8.30 boo hoo
Home at 10.30pm
Have had another evening that has fleeted past. Maybe it was the hour and a half on the phone to Sunny (of Random Place of Mind trying to figure out she sorts out her Blog2Print prize). Then the other 45 minutes to my Mum!!
I have been so busy these past few days that I missed what was number one in UK..... I was busy in 1979 too and missed it in my diary too.
Number One on my teen's birthday (25 years before she was born) was this ! (dreadful in my book and teen's too)
On the day she was born Number one was this (she likes it ....fabulous song. I certainly fell in love with that little bundle that was presented to me that day !)
& in 2008 in the UK it is this sound that our 'Britain's Got Talent' danced to. My teen has seen him street dance and is delighted he won. (we have sung 'Singing in the Rain whilst splashing in puddles over the years many times :-) )
So from the 3 tracks '2 out of 3 ain't bad?'

16th June 1979
Saturday 16
Got up at 12.00 (OMG I wish for such a lie in these days!!)
Went to Stafford
Bought a pair of pegs (draineys, drain pipes, peg leg)= £11.99 & Boogie Wonderland 12"single E.W.&F. & a P.I.Ltd bag for Sam (what they had 'man bags' back then???)
Went to the Woolpack & the Holly Bush
Had a Pimms = nice (I have never even tasted a Pimms since... I must have been so sophisicated then.. ok I probably just thought I was!!)
Came back from the pub at 11.30
Well the birthday is over now... all the pressies & cards have been opened. I bought her a Radley keyring (because she is always mislaying her keys but figured if it had a Radley dog attached she may take more care!! How cute is that?)

Also there were a few other little opening presents... but tonight her 'boyfriend' gave her a Paul's Boutique handbag ... I shudder to think what it cost.
So on this day 29 years ago I bought this and it still sounds as good :-)
