December 31

Sunday 31st December 1978
Got up at 11.00 (no wonder 2 nights on the bounce to bed after 2.00 am! Oh they were the days lol)

Washed my hair

Sam came round at 2.00

Just watched T.V. etc

Fi came round at 7.30

We all went to the Railway in Formby
Then we went to Jim's house for a party = right piss up
(Jim's parents in 70s land were the coolest of cool, they let us have free reign in the house on many occasions and just went off to bed. Mind you Jim's dad was the only person who I knew would have vodka with his cornflakes in the morning. Funny how you see things differently as an adult!!)
Everyone was snogging everyone
(OMG!)
We had a stupid row and we were both in tears coz we thought we were finished
(pleeeease!) I think everything is ok now
Got home at 3.15am coz taxi didn't come (hey it is NY what did I expect)
See you next year - bye (hic!) (erm come on where did you hide the diary??)

I have a bit of a quandary! Tomorrow is the last day of my 1978 diary & I can't find the last year of the 70s, which I know I would have kept as I was given a diary for Christmas.
Oh the shelf life for 70steen is almost up. I will have to my thinking cap on or disappear and come back as 80's teen!!!!!!!

So whilst I contemplate my future enjoy some classic Peter Kay Universal Truth's (the last one is my favourite)

1) Triangular sandwiches taste better than square ones.
2) At the end of every party there is always a girl crying.
3) One of the most awkward things that can happen in a pub is when your pint-to-toilet cycle gets synchronised with a complete stranger.
4) Sharpening a pencil with a knife makes you feel really manly.
5) You're never quite sure whether it's against the law or not to have a fire in your back garden.
6) Nobody ever dares make cup-a-soup in a bowl.
7) You never know where to look when eating a banana.
8) You always feel a bit scared when stroking horses.
9) The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.
10) Every bloke has at some stage while taking a pee, flushed half way through and then raced against the flush.
11) Its impossible to look cool whilst picking up a Frisbee.
12) Driving through a tunnel makes you feel excited.
13) Old ladies can eat more than you think.
14) You can't respect a man who carries a dog.
15) Despite constant warning, you have never met anybody who has had their arm broken by a swan.
16) You've turned into your dad the day you put aside a thin piece of wood specifically to stir paint with.

Interesting!!

Ever thought what sex non living things were. No then click off. Yes then read on

FREEZER BAGS: They are male, because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them.
PHOTOCOPIERS: These are female, because once turned off; it takes a while to warm them up again. They are an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can also wreak havoc if you push the wrong buttons.
HOT AIR BALLOONS: Also a male object, because to get them to go anywhere, you have to light a fire under their butt.
TYRES: Tyres are male, because they go bald easily and are often over inflated.
SPONGES: These are female, because they are soft, squeezable and retain water.
TRAINS: Definitely male, because they always use the same old lines for picking up people.
EGG TIMERS: Egg timers are female because, over time, all the weight shifts to the bottom.
HAMMERS: Male, because in the last 5000 years, they've hardly changed at all and are occasionally handy to have around.
THE REMOTE CONTROL: Female. Ha! You probably thought it would be male, but consider this: It easily gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost without it, and while he doesn't always know which buttons to push, he just keeps trying.

(the blouse was fabulous it was an M&S blouse from C1940)

7 things ???

There is this thing floating around FMB re 7 things no one knows about you here. No one has tagged me (which is cool ) so I thought I would just gate crash ...

1. My real name is in our family history back to 1811, both of my gg grandmothers had the same name although my parents never knew this when they gave me the name.It is something I have only found out recently.
2. I once did a 'strip -o-gram' for a retiring Director of a multi million High Street retailer coz someone dared me (I was an awful lot younger then, I read a poem and stripped down to suzzies and sexy underwear)
3. I was harassed and I felt I was going to be arrested in Marbella. On holiday I was reading the tourist book that said there were 3 types of Policeman in Spain. The short story is ...... I saw one type and pointed at them. They marched over, guns on hips. Demanded my passport (which I didn't have), 'What are you doing here?' they barked 'holiday' I stuttered, they wrenched my bag off my back, emptied it on the ground. Demanded my boyfriends camera off him and left .............. we then got on a tourist trip to Porto Banus and no one would sit near us.
4. I hate Marmite but Marmite crisps are lovely
5. I have been bitten by a Doberman on my thigh & I owned him (god it hurt!!)
6. I got moved on by a prostitute in Leeds once when I was waiting for my boyfriend 'find your own patch bitch' was the term she used
7. I once stood face to face with Linda McCartney and we did a double take in Harrods

December 25 & 26

Monday 25th December 1978
Christmas Day

Got up at 10.30 (oh those days of getting up just as Mum had gone to bed in the early hours had obviously passed. She would have everything ready for us in pillowcases placed carefully at the foot of our beds, a sock stuffed with little pressies together with the mandatory walnuts and satsumas. The coal fire would be lit in the lounge so it would be warm for us when we got up. It was always magic. But yes for my poor Mum who had it all to do would just about get her head on the pillow and we would all be up, so excited, waking Mum showing her what Santa had bought)

Opened my presys:-- Got Cowl neck & 'V' neck jumpers, 2 pairs of sox, 3 pairs of knickers, two underskirts, suspender belt (ooooo!), a diary (now that tells me there was a 1979 record but alas lost), an address book, 'Just Musk' & 'Occur' perfume, 2 pens, makeup bag, a basket & a big teddy
Phoned Sam at 11.00, he got loads of pressies.

Watched 'The Sound of Music' (hey compulsory Christmas day viewing and this is some other stuff we would have been watching)
Made Snoopy a pyjama top
Sam phoned back at 11.00
pm for 5 minutes
Wish i could have spent Christmas with him xx

Tuesday 26th December 1978
Boxing Day
Got up at 10.20

Had a bath & hair wash
Watched T.V.
Sorted out my bedroom

My brother's girlfriend and dad called round with pressies at about 4.30

I got some 'Just Musk' perfume (ooops I obviously must have mentioned I liked it!!)
They left at 7.00
Fi, 'J' & Bev Rang

Watched 'The Day of the Jackal' - saw it 4-5 years ago at the flicks = good
Sam phoned

Really miss him
He said that he had been to watch a footie match this afternoon

2007 Thank you to everyone for their lovely pressies I received this year I am most grateful :-) Just a thought ??? If this happened

Then I suspect we would end up here :-)

Day 24

That is a picture of my 'mean cat' if cat's only knew that that hat certainly gives her no street cred!!!! The game tonight is something you can't do after any alcohol at all......... my best score after 2 glasses of wine is 13.25 seconds.
Stay away from the walls and the blue things

December 23

Saturday 23rd December 1978
I hate Saturdays but not this one.
Worked 11.00 - 5.00 = £4.00 wages
Got a presy from Germany.
A mirror and a Father Christmas full of sweets. (My mother still has this Father Christmas at her house and he gets filled up with sweets each Christmas. They are better than the ones that came with him, the chocolate smelled of bacon and tasted vile)
Met Sam at the Art Centre at 2.00 for lunch.
He met me later at 5.00 and came for tea.
We went to Follies.
The same 'scrubber' was there. She kept away from us.
Had a really great night
Got home at 2.15 am
Merry Crimbo
Sam gave me my presy
A huge Snoopy about 1ft 6" tall
(Snoopy still lives with us. For the past 14 years he has been held captive in the Teen's bedroom. He's not quite as white as he was, mind you he is 29 and only had a couple of surface rub downs)

Day 23 (thank you)

I am listening to Radio One to see who is Christmas number one this year (see I am not that much of a fuddy duddy!). I hoped it would be Take That after seeing them perform this live last week.... fabulous. But they are number 7.
I guess it will be Leon after his success on the X-Factor (god my Teen wants to enter that next year!!!)
In 1978 the number one was Boney M - Mary's Boy Child. I have this thing about Boney M, it's that bloke (what are those pants about??), never got along with them then or now!

Today's game is a girlie one with a cute white bunny .... after getting loads of 10's I soared to a staggering 5430

Went on to Follies = ok

There was this girl there that was flirting with Sam.
She asked him to go out with her.

I told him it was me or her.

He chose me. I should think so too! (he chose me???? lol )

Day 22 (click here only because I realise that you will have missed the last 21)

The game for today is really addictive (well it has been for me today). My Cuz CK sent it to me as part of his email advent calendar which is superb btw and the source for many of the games and other bits for my advent. Thank you CKx) I have however managed a score of 6999. Everything, however, has gone to pot in my quest lol.
The rules are .........

It's all in Japanese but don't let that put you off.

Click on the top option from the first page. You control the kebab stick with your mouse and raise it up to skewer the cartoon characters.

Need to get three or more in a line to gain points.

Press 1 to get an extra line of characters, 2 removes everything from your skewer (very handy) and 3 removes the last line of characters from the screen. Oh and don't overload your kebab stick coz if you do it is game over ( I think it is 7 items) & the other 'OH' is don't extend your stick because you will pick up stuff you didn't want to pick up ;-)

om)

Day 19

The game is 'Smack the Penguin' .... 273.8 is my best (disclaimer no penguins were injured in this game)

I was sent this email tonight not much narrative needed except to say these animals survived a tornado and were rescued from different places and all found comfort & safety with each other, despite their different backgrounds and breeds.... we could learn so much
