I have a house full of teens staying over tonight and I have been over hearing their anx.... oh how refreshing life is no different 30 years on lol

Found this in the Jackie annual 1976...... Your Life is in your Hands.. I may show this to the 'gaggle' later

It is about reading your palm and al that life may offer you..................

Ok not full of teen anx but curious what my palm reads?
my heart line starts under my first finger but goes off my hand at the other side (OMG am I immortal in love ??)
My Life line is clear and long
My fate line does have a break in it

OK no Teen anx but as a 40 something anx.... what do you think ???

29th July 1979

Sunday 29
Dull morning
Hot afternoon
Went to the Salle de Jeux (I reckon it was like an amusement arcade... mmm? I wonder which site we actually stayed at on that list??)
Fi got talking to some French fella
He was really yuk!!
Home 11.20 pm

So whilst I was gallivanting in France ... this hit number one in the UK. Which has become a Monday anthem..... I had forgotten how weird those kids looked .. I guess they were based on the Midwich Cuckoos ~ Village of the Damned

I still have my 7" 45 single :-)

This amused me from 1976... Bob Geldof (or Geldorf!!) saying who he would NOT give a present to if he was Santa!!

Mmmm Bob met Paula Yates in 1976 then married her in 1986. She discovered in the late 1990's that her father wasn't Jess Yates but Hughie Green... how ironic is that 1976 comment!! But it all ended so tragically.

Hughie Paula Jess

28th July 1979

He looks a bit suspicious... I think he is trying to steal that head light!!

Saturday 29
Got up at 8.30
Went to Tranches market
Then to the beach

It was quite dull but now it is boiling hot
Went to visit friend's of Fi's parents in
Mothe Achard = really great

The first photo is of Tranche, the second one is of Ainsdale were I grew up .... so similar ... except the sea it always there at Tranche this is not the case at Ainsdale. Check out their webcam over at Tranche.

Well it is not long before I go on my jolly holidays to Madrid ... 13 days to be precise ... yipee

So I have been starting to root out the cossies and summer stuff that you only tend to wear when on holiday.

Found some pictures of holiday wear from 1975, and I tell you I would quite fancy some of them to wear now!! (obviously if I were slimmer and a heck of a lot younger!)

Well I wonder where Olga has been bra-napped to ........ Claire certainly must be worried after searching the bars or is that bars of Liverpool and only finding booze.
Something that Olga must have set up before her disappearance arrived this weekend.
My Earl Grey tastes soooo bodaliciously good out of it .......... Thank you and I hope you are found soon ... the Posse are getting twitchy again and I see that the Willy's have been called to arms too (ok they don't have arms!!)

27th July 1979

Friday 27
Set off for camp at 10.00
= very, very hot

It was a long drive

Wrote to Sam

Caravan = really nice

Me & Fi are in bunk beds
Had a shower and washed my hair
It i
s so hot here

As soon as I set foot in Tranche sur Mer I loved it. It was hot. Everyone except us were French on the camp site and I saw for the first time people dipping their bread and croissants into their coffee and folk drinking red wine at lunch time.......... nobody drank wine in my house ever!! Love it!

Yesterday I popped these open sandwiches up. It amused me as could you ever tell what they are ??
If your stomach can take it, these are the recipes!

1. 4 tablespoons of peanut butter, 2 tablespoons of chopped well-grilled bacon, and 2 tablespoons of coleslaw on brown toast!!

2. 4 oz of cottage cheese, 1 oz of chopped ginger. tiny pinch of curry powder on french bread

3. This is a toasted one - don't eat cold (thanks for the warning!). 1 small tin of baked beans. 2 oz of grated cheese, 1 tablespoon of chopped onions and 1 chopped tomato on toast (we actually have this as a snack ' cheese beanies' but without the onion and tomato it is delicious)

4. 2 oz of cream cheese, 1 oz of chopped walnuts, 2 tablespoons of chopped pineapple, a little chopped peaches an fruit loaf

5. 1 small tin of prawns (what prawns come in tins??), 3 tablespoons of plain yoghurt, 1 teaspoon of Worcester sauce on rye bread

I never knew of such things in 1975??

We have 2 days of uninterrupted sun .... absolutely fabulous :-D

(taken from my garden)

It does seem like years since its been here!!!

26th July 1979

Thursday 26
Go on holiday Tranche sur mere ( La Tranche sur Mer!!)

Got up at 9.00 am
Set off for Portsmouth

Got there at 4.30 pm

Phoned Sam on the way down

Got to
Cherbourg at 12.00 midnight
Stayed in a guest house
Miss Sam

29 years ago I went abroad for the first time and spookily enough it was in the neighbourhood that Sylvie and Kevin now live in........aka the home of??? yes FMB!
I loved every minute of my first time abroad .....so the next couple of weeks will give a teen view of it !!

Anyway from last nights quiz... here go the answers

Conclusion 1

Conclusion 2

Conclusion 3

Conclusion 4

I reckon my image from yesterday is definitely the '4'... it is some what true I have lots of close friends that know what I am about plus as I have got older I have heeded those words of advice without a quiz telling me that!!

More interestingly(as an aside) .... what are these open sandwiches about ? Nutritious and interesting but without the blurb look like just a few badly drawn pieces of toast

Ok I have double interlude here

First off is Nurse Myras T~shirt Friday. I posted a few way back, but as it was way back ... maybe? just maybe I can sneak them in again.........!! but I can't compete with the loveliness that is NM

Circa 1978.. and one of my fav t~shirts .. it is Porche

Second interlude is a meme posted by Diane at 'Much of a Muchness'.
I have stolen it to pass on. As you will know I don't 'do' memes as a rule unless they strike a cord... and this did!

Diane (of course)
Daddy P (for my daily abuse)
Nurse Myra (for educational reasons you understand!)
Olga (such a great house guest)
.. I hate to be limited to 4 as I visit so many more ...................

Now who can I pass this on to?? I know DP & NM will not take up the challenge... so??

OK

Olga
Drowsey Monkey
Scratchbag
The Rev
Fracas

70s has challenged you to the '4' meme ;-)

But if you want to get down and boogie on a 'hump day' (i.e Wednesday) when Micheal was still with 'Bro's' in London

Manchester has a jazz festival on at the moment. There is all sorts going on around the city.
What a joy today, at 3.00 we were treated to a hour of jazz whilst in the office. Windows open to the sounds of jazz echoing around the room, from a free live performance outside.

So stepping away from my usual disco music ... some classic Ella Fitzgerald & Count Basie from 1979.

I have finally had some sun on my back today but had to drive home back to Southport to get some.
Spent the afternoon cutting down conifers in my mothers garden and my hands & arms are so stinging from conifer rash!!

I need some disco dancing...... unfortunately this clip is disabled for embedding but it is a must see for the World Disco dancing finals in 1979... check out the petrol pump attendant from Iceland the Israeli soldier !!!

Doodle week is now at an end with an impossible task if you can't draw.... I have had a few attempts and failed ... so 70s contribution is a scanned image of a 20s bathing beauty with some added 70s bits.. wedges, crocheted hat and bell bottoms (transparent so you can appreciate how in those days curvy was cool ;-) ) I have, however, managed to make her look like she has a club foot!

but before''airbrush' was invented & take heed gals this chick was lusted after ... cos this is how we are :-)

Saturday, 19 July 2008

19th July 1979

you know I may have a new favourite ... 'The Three Siennas'

Thursday 19
Worked 10 - 6.30
= not busy at all.

Dentist 2.40.

Chris G took me (Fi's on / off boyfriend)
Had a filling

Went to a jewellry party

Bought Sam a little ring & a bracelet for me

I have been searching through my blog (gosh I wish I had tagged better during the early stages) to find a mail order catalogue reference that I think Mystic veg sent me. Alas I have not located it ..... I was thinking about how much household items would have cost some 30 years ago? I have managed to find some information from www.catalogueshop.co.uk ... & how fascinating!

In the Littlewoods catalogue in 1972/73 had:-
a portable radio £6.65 or 20 weeks at 33p

a washing machine £131.29 or 50 weeks at £2.52

I was brought up with that concept of 20 weeks. We had no money so Mum had a mail order catalogue that was paid over 20 weeks and the amount would be marked off on a card.
I so remember saying stuff like 'it is only 25p/ week!!' But these gems have amazed me!

This stereogram (every home had to have one ... infact in the late 80s we were given one by my husbands cousin as we had no furniture) cost in the early 70s - £96.25. What was the weekly wage back then ? About £10 maybe £15 per week?

This Hitachi 'music centre was £399.00. 399 quid how expensive was that??????

& this VHS video recorder was a mammoth £575.00. My brother brought one just like this over from the Middle East in the 70s ... I guess I never realised, until now, just how lucky we were!!

Today is the penultimate day to the end of Doodle Week. I am so rubbish at drawing and am dreading tomorrows more than I am dreading posting this one!!! ... featuring pup 'L' & cats 'J' & 'W'... it is a mad house here with the 3 oh and a teen!!

Friday, 18 July 2008

18th July 1979

Come on would you put your son in this??
Wednesday 18
Wages £20.00
Weather = grotty, cold & wet (just like today grr! :( )
Worked 10.00 - 6.00
Bought a T-shirt £1.99 & a skirt £4.75
Phoned Sam = he was in a better mood
He got paid
Went to Fi's
Sewed buttons on my skirt (the button through one I had made 2 days before)
Sam never phoned back

Well it is Friday ... the weekend is here. I must say that this god dam awful weather we are having ooop Norff is now beyond a joke. I have not seen the suns smiley face in weeks.

It is difficult to keep up beat when the sky is grey and there looks like no let up ...
I have seen that b4by is suffering the ill effects of over saturation in Dublin too.
In a few weeks I will be in Madrid. Already it is topping 100 degrees.... OMG I will be like a piece of fried bacon. But at least I will have some sun on my back.

Anyway it is Friday so time for some tunes ... and no it isn't 70s music ... but rain based.

Love this song but really like this clip... very nicely done ... and 'I am never goin' to stop the rain by complaining' how true !!

A friend reminded me of this clip this week... whilst walking in the rain. Lovely & so cute.

Doodle week is almost at an end. There have been some fabulous doodles I have seen. Today the subject is 'Evil'.

OMG check out Claire's one... it scared me and oh poor Evil Willy (he is misunderstood you know!)
Doodle week has actually had me speechless in the fact that Olga has confessed to a 'body double' surely not? I hear you cry!! It is true! Olga has a body double how evil is that??

DP ~ if my great niece saw your doodle she would not go to the toilet again ... she already has a 'thing' about toilets!!
Drowsey Monkey's is evil but cute too. A fellow 70s teen and way switched on with this 70steen albeit we are across the pond!
Now Scratchbag~ I wondered if she had any evil in her and awww what a cute evil being .. so I was right :-)

My Evil has to be about Evil Willy .. EW for short or is that eeeeeewww!

He has a few things going on in his head but have some sympathy as he is about to 'fess something to Olga............

Thursday, 17 July 2008

16th & 17th July 1979

a step too far!!!!!
Monday 16
Worked 10.00 - 6.20 = not very busy
Was chief butty maker today (translated I made sandwiches all day. I was usually on ice creams. Making butties was quite cool and I loved the fast heat sealing machine we used lol)
Sam hasn't rung!
Made a button through skirt
I am very tired
He phoned at 11.20
He had been working in the Woolpack

Tuesday 17
Work 10.00 - 6.30
= very hot and humid (I wish! Today it has been cold and wet)
Not that busy
Drew £5.00 out of the bank to get a skirt, but couldn't get one
Fi phoned Dave
I phoned Sam at 7.00
He hasn't phoned back yet
Sam phoned at 11.20 & 11.50
Cos he put the phone down on me
He had been to the pub

Sorry for the internet silence ... I think, however, it bothered me more than my readership lol. All due to my ISP who denied all knowledge it was their fault, told me it was my PC and in a pretty patronising tone .. i.e. I was dumb!! tsk!
No matter I am back now :-)

I wanted to see if there any actual videos about real people in the 70s & by jove there are loads!
This one is a protest about CB radios .. rubber duck looks like we have a convoy.. and all that. I seem to recall there was so
me sort of ban on Cb radios??

Whilst surfing I came across this clip about the borough I live in
Classic the reporter (with a posh voice... must be from
down Souff) says 'I stopped a chap in flat hat' lol I drive down that bit in the opening titles everyday (when I drive into work that is!)

But this must be the best home movie lol ... a Walton House. Oh what fun !!!!!?????

Good Night John Boy

Oh before I go

Doodle of the day is Vacation ... a postcard from the edge ......welcome to your holiday in the UK :-)

Doodle week

Tuesday, 15 July 2008

Interlude ~garden doodle

Evil Willy is alive and well in a 'secret garden' dreaming about Olga with a discarded 70s wedgie shoe...

It is doodle week after all ..

Sunday, 13 July 2008

15th July 1979

what a goddess!
Sunday 15 (19 months)
Worked 10.30 - 6.45
= quite busy
Phoned Sam at 2.10 & 7.30
Me = shattered
My niece and nephew were down for the day (they are now 34 & 32 with a couple of kids each...eek!)

Had a bath & hair wash

Watched TV

When Annie Mouse stayed a couple of weeks ago, she did insist on bringing her Cliff Richard collection with her.

I was filled with dread. It is something that Annie and I agree to disagree on.... because I simply just don't 'do' Cliff. Sorry !!
I know he has talent and is popula
r but he doesn't do it for me musically or otherwise in any shape or form... & after seeing him posing in a pair of leather pants (trousers) on a calendar I bought Annie one Christmas... he does even less!!
But as I say we agree to disagree........

Anyway after a few glasses of fine white I was pleasantly surprised as I flicked through the folder.
On the back of the Cliff stuff was a wealth of 70s stuff hee hee :-D

wow a TV guide from some time in the 70s! Did ITV shut down early evening back then? What no 24/7 television?

Oh I loved Clapperboard.
It was a kids film review programme that kept you up to date what was on in the cinema. No DVDs and only the start of videos back then. If you joined a video shop you had to pay a huge membership fee, which my mum refused to do. Even when my brother brought a state of the art betamax video recorder home in the late 70s from the Middle East (it was a HUGE top loader)

Flockton Flyer ... I do sort of remember this programme now I have looked it up. It was a 2 series thing for kids about a steam train. A family struggling to open a branch railway line.
It had Patrick Mower and Gerald Harper in it at one stage
Tiswas was a dream kids programme. Custard pies, raucous humour, Spit the Dog, Lenny Henry ... superb.
Have a dabble in their web site
I love these clips as I met both of them when I was an usherette in the 70s.... Wednesday was wrestling night!

There was also Charlie's Angels. What girl then didn't want to be Farah Fawcett Majors or Jaclyn Smith
Oh I almost forgot to mention. On the front was this image (Oh I never thought Cliff would feature in my blog lol)

& just for you Annie the only Cliff song I can actually tolerate as I love the film
(what a fun adventure)

12th, 13th & 14th July 1979

thinking mans yellow jersey

Thursday 12
Orange Lodge Day
Worked 10.15 - 6.45
= I am half dead (not surprising after partying for the past few days)
Not very busy though

Wrote to Sam

He phoned and said he had got a few autographs
Miss him
Phoned Fi

Friday 13 (ooo Friday the 13th!!!)
Dentist 11.10 - cancelled
Worked 10.00 - 6.15
= not very busy in the morning but were in the afternoon
Went to the Scarisbrick to a 21st do = ok
Only about 60 - 70 people there

Home at 12.30

Saturday 14
British Grand Prix - Silverstone
Work 10.00 - 6.20

Clay Regazonni won

Sam phoned
he got back from Silverstone at 8pm
he went to Gayton

he phoned again at 12.00
miss him v v much

Fi stayed over

I never went to the British Grand Prix during the 70s. That delight was introduced to me in the early 80s. It was a bitter/ sweet experience. I loved motor sport and race day was always fabulous. The down side was camping for 3 days. Very little sleep due to back to back tents, parties and so on. Also by day 2 the toilets and showers were generally out of order. So come race day you were minging and in need of a decent meal.

Sam used to do some freelance photography for a local paper, so we we
re fortunate enough to get press passes that allowed us into the F1 paddock. Another bitter/sweet experience... 3 days and no washing facilities..... meeting up with the Formula One greats such as Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mason, James Hunt, Ayrton Senna (such gorgeous man, I saw him stood on the roof of a car, so looking like a baglady I shouted up to him 'excuse me can I have your autograph?', he jumped down said 'of course', signed my programme & gave me such a lovely smile)

There is photographic evidence somewhere of me in a Pamalat Brabham baseball cap and an oilskin coat, hair like a grease pot and looking completely fed up... but you know I just can't find it right now hee hee

I was ok with all of this (really), being quite excited at meeting these heroes of motor sport until I came face to face with women dressed like this

Hey ho & c'est la vie as they say lol :-)

70s Interlude ~ " 17:10 and all is well..."

17:10

The time I start to watch the clock

The clock that allows me to be me again soon

Me again?

Yes it is 20 small, yet long 20 minutes before I can escape

Escape where?

The shackles of being a wage slave.

A wage slave?

The slave role that allows me to live like me!

me in 20 minutes ?

20 minutes in which to answer that awkward email that has been lurking all day
20 minutes in which to gather up the mass of papers that litter my desk
20 minutes in which I prioritize tomorrow's adventures

20 minutes in which I can book 3 meetings for next week

20 minutes in which to wash my mug before I head off home

...........or 20 minutes in which to doodle :-)

Ah off home..... bliss !!! :-D

[I did clock off at 5:10 btw.... will make up those doodling 20 minutes next week ;-) ]

Friday, 11 July 2008

11th July 1979

Wednesday 11
Sam goes to Grand Prix
Come back home
Big heads this morning
Cleared up
Went to Stafford = boiling hot (humpf... not like today here... rain and gloom)
Sam & Stan left for Silverstone at 1.30
Will miss him
Me & Fi got home at 6.00 pm
Sam phoned later
Wish I could have stayed with him

Now Daddy Papersurfer has been complaining for days now (although it seems so much longer) about the amount of 'mustard' cardigans I have posted ... come on it was the 70s and 'mustard' was all the rage.
But just to placate him I have found a jaunty nautical knitting pattern (sorry I know I promised anchors but at least there is an out board motor!!)

Thank goodness it is Friday..... that usually means disco!

An excellent video (it is in Spanish, English and French) I must put a warning here there is some Boney M!!... but is reprieved with some Rolling Stones and Blondie (sub titled in Spanish, so you can sing a long and learn a language at the same time)

& some 70s music I certainly missed ..bear with this & you can la la la ... how fabulous, classic 70s images and music that was not available(or I was not aware of) in the UK :-)

Thursday, 10 July 2008

10th July 1979

Tuesday 10
Got up at 10.00
Went into Stafford

Had a great laugh shopping

Went to the Woolpack & the Holly Bush (pubs) with Steve and Sally
Sam's next door neighbour came round

Bed at 4.15am

It was light

Blotto = disgusting (all I can think is that his parents must have been away whilst all this was going on!)

With regard to the knitting pattern all I can think of was they were promoting how to have a happy relationship, by buying a penny farthing bike, wearing a tea towel on your head and knitting (& wearing) matching mustard coloured sweaters..... easy peasy :-)

Time for some 70s advertisements

C1975 ... would you wear that trouser suit?? The sleeveless number is not bad? though

Can the same be said for the wearers in the 70s ??

As we say over here 'they should have gone to Spec Savers'

Those pants are so tight do you reckon he may have had an accident on that bike??

I posted a while ago that I had bought a pair of white clogs... it is these here at the top of the picture .. so comfortable :-)

erm yes he does need something and I wonder if the fragrance smelled of stale ciggies and morning after beer lol

Oh O.J.! I wonder if he was true to the advert and wearing these when??
'made for whatever you're going to be doing in them'

Wednesday, 9 July 2008

9th July 1979

Monday 9
Sam's 19th Birthday (Happy Birthday Sam)
Got up at 9.00
Sam loved his presents
Went to the Woolpack all lunchtime

We were the only one's in there

Went to Gayton
Sam = pissed
11 pints & 5 -6 Bacardis (ermmm!not surprised he was 'pissed')
Fi was with Dave (??)
Bed 2am

As I have posted earlier I was making him a jacket ... so that must have gone down well with the tie pin I had bought him.
In the white space at the front of the diary is a list .. titled 'Pos B'day pressies for Sam'
Channel for gents - £5.00 (Channel £5.00??? never????)
Shirt - £10.00
Necklace - £8.00
Leather tie or such - £2.00
Tie pin - £2.50
Nylon holdall thingy - £5.00

Whether I bought all the other things I have no idea ??
As the day was a boozy day back then in 1979 and probably for Sam today too...

some difficult words to say when under the influence.

1. Innovative
2. Preliminary
3. Proliferation
4. Cinnamon

Some very difficult words when drunk (& sober lol)

1. Specificity
2. Anti-constitutionalistically
3. Passive-aggressive disorder
4. Transubstantiate

& some pretty near impossible ones

1. No thanks, I'm married.
2. Nope, no more booze for me!
3. Sorry, but you're not really my type.
4. Kebab? No thanks, I'm not hungry.
5. Good evening, officer. Isn't it lovely out tonight?
6. Oh, I couldn't! No one wants to hear me sing karaoke.
7. I'm not interested in fighting you.
8. Thank you, but I won't make any attempt to dance, I have no
coordination. I'd hate to look like a fool!
9. Where is the nearest bathroom? I refuse to pee on the side of the
road.
10. I must be going home now, as I have to work in the morning.
11. Thank you Mr. Taxi Driver, that was a very reasonable price.

A little game for a Wednesday night .. Get the drunk home. Click start on his board and keep the left part of your mouse down and guide him down... 42 meters for 70s :-)

Tuesday, 8 July 2008

8th July 1979

Sunday 8
Went to Donnington Park
Watched the bikes = ok but a bit boring (I do remember this, they whizzed round so fast and were sooo noisy!!)

= very hot (the weather I gues
s?... I wish!!! it is terribly miserable and rainy here 29 years later)
Got back at 7.45

Went to the Saracen's Head (pub) with Sam, Dave and Steve

Here 'til 1.30 (ooo a stay behind after hours....an
age before 24 hour pub opening so it was illegal then ooo)
Bed at 2.00

Ok the knitting pattern!! How interesting can a light bulb be?? Maybe my more masculine readers could tell me? Perhaps he is thinking 'I wonder how many of my mates I will have to invite round to change it??' or 'I feel so inadequate!'

Great for a caption contest lol .....

Breaking away from a 70s theme
(which is generally only done during the month of December)
So not so idle hands ... how cool & clever are these??

7th July 1979

Saturday 7
Bed last night at 3.00 am
Awake at 8.00 am
Went shopping in Stafford
Fi arrived at 9.00
Went to the Woolpack
Home at 10.45
Bed at 12.30 am

My random pattern tonight is not a knitting one but a sewing one (be relieved DP .. a no mustard cardi night !)
I hooked this out of the Charity Shop as I actually recognised it ... in 1973 I was the church's Rose Queen and my dress came from this pattern.

Not the pattern that was used in 1967 however, when I was a Rose Queen Attendant.

but this one in 1973 (Annie .. don't look!)

which was then recycled 30 years later in 2003 for my teen at Halloween..
The Haunted Bride .. she won the competition with this btw..

5th & 6th July 1979

Thursday 5
Work 10.00 - 6.30
Packed when I got home

Fi & Stan phoned

Boring evening

Friday 6
Got up at 9.00

Sunbathed
Met Bev & Stan on the train into Liverpool

Caught train to Stafford
Met Sam at 5.00pm
Went to Woolpack & Gayton Hotel
Left early cos of possible scraps
cos of funky Sam (mmmm I wonder what that meant... maybe he was trendy looking or something????)

What afternoon yesterday ..........70s met up with Olga's current chaperon Claire and I managed to get Bill Blunt out of hibernation too!
We all hooked up at the Albert Dock , Liverpool

I am apparently the first real life blogger that Claire has met ... and she said I was her favourite real life blogger.. mmmm as I am her first one I asked that she comes back to me after her adventures in the US in September to see if I am still a fav!! lol

It was incredibly busy at the docks as we hadn't realised that the clipper around the world yacht race was on.

And this huge liner was in, according to my mother it has 900 American tourists on board.

So what an environment to let Olga loose in?? A multi nation event!
My she was excited, particularly when she was reunited with Michelle 'Posse' leader

There was no stopping her when she saw the Beatles SuperLambBanana, she was all over it like a rash

In fact no one was safe

This poor chap was having a snooze on the bench and Olga entwined herself around him, he was quite alarmed upon wakening.... I am beginning to get a little worried about her morals since she had 'that' encounter with Gertrude and now Willy!!!!!

4th July 1979

Wednesday 4
Americas Independence Day
Wages =£15.00
Bought Sam a tie pin for his birthday
Worked 10.00 - 5.00
Had my hair cut = same but more tidy (having my hair cut tomorrow. I reckon I will be again saying 'same but more tidy' lol)
Phoned Fi at Cleveley.
Sam phoned

He was drunk (tsk)

I couldn't be more thrilled that it is Friday today. It has been a tough old week and so looking forward to a lie in tomorrow. It seems ages since I have that opportunity.

The knitting pattern tonight is one of my all time favourites.... mustard men with matching hair and such cheesy grins. It must have been :-)

Annie in my comments from yesterday mentioned Dick Emery. It is a standing joke with me that when we have been out she often walks like him when he was dressed as a woman. hee hee.

I can't believe it was 1983 when he died ... where does the time go?? He was a king of comedy, totally barking mad in true British style!

I have had a pretty tough day today .... some pretty evil exams.

But not one to dwell, I have a glass of fine Ozzy white and will await the results with dignity.... hey when you suspect you are going to get an 'F' what else can you do lol ;-)

Anyway 70s is in need of some comedy
This from the 70s in the former USSR (Georgia to be precise)... 10 minutes long .. you are forgiven if you doze off a few minutes in .. men in crash hats, a beautiful girl and butterfly nets!! Need I say any more

some really funny B movie horror trailers lol (I am sooo afraid!)

How come when I put in comedy 1970s Donny appears ??

& finally Mike Yarwood doing his stuff in the 70s plus Larry 'is there a draft in here' Grayson and others

:-)

Fi came round

Since I started this blog most of my fashion posts have been about 70s girls fashions apart from the odd dodgey tasche.

So tonight I thought the men should have a look in.
It will be interesting if any that are shown below strike a cord with my more masculine readers??
Before and after!!

A little crochet number or a denim safari suit perhaps??

Y~society and matching lycra

Some SERIOUS plaid

Shirts and Socks

The number one this week in 1979 was this

It is what I would call 'Boy Music. My brother played it loads ... I hated it. Where had the boogie on down sounds gone?

Here is the top ten for the first week in July 1979

1. Tube Way Army ~ Are Friends Electric
2. Anita Ward ~ Ring My Bell (hated this too.. the former number 1)
3. Squeeze ~ Up the Junction (another boy tune.. but I actually like this one)
4. Earth, Wind & Fire ~ Boogie Wonderland (That is more like it )
5. Quantum Jump ~ Lone Ranger (what is this??.... OMG it is awful!!!)
6. Roxy Music ~ Dance Away (ohhhh how fabulous, only Bryan Ferry could get away with wearing lime green lol )

7. Blondie ~ Sunday Girl (cool Blondie fix!)
8. McFadden and Whitehead ~ Ain't no stopping us now (I have danced to this many times since the 70s.. I defy you to not 'toe tap....)

9. Edwin Starr ~ H.A.P.P.Y. Radio (more boogie!! oh yes a great dance track)
10. Gerry Raffety ~ Night Owl (chilling Gerry R )

Hope these help you get through Wednesday :-)
